Woven Tapestry and Painting

Chrissie Morgan is a Tapestry Weaver, Portrait Painter and Contemporary Artist. Visitors to Studio 4 can observe the production of commissioned portraits in pastels, acrylic and oils, experimental weft-faced tapestries and constructed artworks using sculptural felt with found objects. Following a career in Exhibition Design, Chrissie gained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Woven Tapestry/Fine Art at West Dean, one of few remaining specialist studios dedicated to weaving.

Inspired by the human face, people and their stories, themes such as identity, memory and place are explored by this dedicated artist. She uses an eclectic range of materials including human hair, paint, mohair, felt, silks and wax. Workshops and classes run throughout the year in Creative Drawing (a revolution in seeing), Woven Tapestry as a Fine Art Medium and Sculptural Feltmaking. Original paintings, weaving, wool, prints and cards are for sale in the studio. Chrissie exhibits locally and nationally.
