2 - Julia Triston
Contemporary Textile Arts

Colourful and quirky, Julia Triston’s textile art work is textured and expressive. She is fascinated by contrasts and developing patterns – the unexpected and unusual rather than the formal, obvious and structured.
By combining and recycling layers of textiles with machine embroidery, hand stitch and embellishments, she creates vibrant pieces of work, which are spirited and stimulating, influenced by her travels in India and South America. Julia makes and sells her work at her studio and also takes commissions. Her work is exhibited locally and nationally.
Julia teaches a range of contemporary design and stitch techniques in
her studio, and also leads community art projects, inset days and
textile workshops throughout the country. From Fowlers Yard, she runs
with Tracy A Franklin – an independent
City Guilds centre - specialising in teaching courses in stitched
textiles up to diploma level.
